CA-1 (PGY-2)
- 1 month CA-1 Introductory Tutorial Program
- 5-7 months general OR experience
- 1 month Adult Critical Care Medicine
- 1/2 month Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
- 1/2 month TEE
- 1 month Perioperative Medicine rotation (if not completed during CBY)
- 1 month Airway rotation
- 1 month Cardiothoracic Anesthesia
- 1/2 month Acute Pain Service (if not completed during CBY)
- 1/2 month Palliative Medicine (if not completed during CBY)
- 1 month Obstetrical Anesthesia
- ACLS certification course
- Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management (ACRM-1) simulation course
CA-2 (PGY-3)
- One-month block rotations in the following anesthesia subspecialties:
- Adult Critical Care Medicine
- Ambulatory
- Cardiothoracic
- Obstetrical
- Neurosurgical
- Pain Management
- Pediatric
- Regional
- Vascular
- 2-1/2 months of general OR experience
- 1/2 month TEE
- ATLS certification course
- Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management (ACRM-2) simulation course
CA-3 (PGY-4)
- Opportunities to pursue the Advanced Clinical Track (ACT), Clinical Scientist Track (CST) or the Leadership Preventive Medicine (LPM) Track are available.
- Mandatory two-week rotations in TEE and Non-OR Anesthesia (NORA) for each CA-3 resident
- ACLS re-certification
- Optional Neonatal Resuscitation certification
- The DHMC International Pediatric Anesthesia elective provides a CA-3 resident with the opportunity to practice anesthesia in a third-world setting. This one to two week elective is offered, as the opportunity arises, and on a competitive basis, to a CA-3 resident who has demonstrated exceptional ability and interest in the area of pediatric anesthesia.
