Cross-Sectional Imaging Fellowship
The fellowship is usually flexible, with opportunities for tailoring the program to meet the interests of individual fellows.
Curriculum
The fellowship is divided into 13 four-week blocks, including a one-month elective of the fellow's choice, which allows him or her to focus intensively on any area in the radiology department. Electives include cardiac imaging (with the Department of Cardiology), mammography, musculoskeletal radiology, and CT-guided interventional procedures.
Fellows work alongside attendings, are on call 12 weekends per year, attend daily conferences and present two Grand Rounds. Time can be allocated for research, and fellows who have an abstract or original research accepted may attend a department-sponsored meeting.
Facilities
Our facilities include 4 CT systems: two 16-slice GE Lightspeed™ scanners; a 64-slice Lightspeed™ multidetector CT system capable of extensive diagnostic evaluations including cardiac, vascular, and 3D studies; and a versatile wide-bore "adaptive scanner" installed last year - the Siemens Somatom Definition™ AS. Four interventional radiology suites, three Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras with SPECT; a CT/PET unit; three digital fluoroscopy units and eight ATL 5000 ultrasound scanners. The department operates two permanent 1.5T magnets, a mobile 1.5T scanner, and as of March 2010, a new 3.0T magnet - the GE Discovery™ MR750 system.
Post-fellowship opportunities
Candidates who have completed our program have been very successful in being placed in their areas of interest. Fellows have gone on to pursue both academic and private practice opportunities.
