The experience is primarily based in our cardiac catheterization laboratories where total procedure volumes typically exceed 3,000 cases per year with approximately 1,200 interventions.  Fellows will be exposed to a full range of cardiovascular disease requiring invasive evaluation and treatment, and on completion of the program can expect to be fully competent to handle complex and high-acuity cases. Expertise in the care of patients undergoing catheter procedures is gained in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Research opportunities abound at DHMC, and clinical or bench-based investigative work comprises an important element of the fellowship: trainees will not only learn but contribute to knowledge in this field.  The program is ACGME-accredited and graduates are eligible to sit the ABIM exam leading to board certification.
