Alicia Zbehlik, MD
I am starting LPMR after completing my fellowship in Rheumatology at DHMC. I’ve been living in the Upper Valley since 1999 with my husband of 22 years, Herminio, an engineering geologist and stay at-home-dad extraordinaire. Our amazing daughter, Artemisia, is very excited to be in third grade next year. We love to hike, ski, bike, cook, paint and read together.
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Brown University then spent the next eight years in Boulder and San Francisco, mostly working for non-profit artist residency programs in the public schools. After attending Medical School at the University of California at Davis, I returned to the East for my Internal Medicine Residency at DHMC. In 2002, I opened my practice at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Healthcare Center, a gem of a community hospital in rural Vermont. While at Mt. Ascutney, I was lucky to work on an IHI national collaboration on improving access and efficiency of care. This was my epiphany that quality improvement can happen in any practice. I am very excited to continue to learn how to bring cultural change to the delivery of medical care and create systems that make it easiest to do the right thing.
