Facilities

The 396-bed hospital is located on the DHMC campus in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
In 2004, nearly 22,000 patients were discharged from the hospital, and outpatient visits to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic sites in Lebanon and throughout the region totaled almost 1.6 million.
A 36-bed unit is shared by neurology and neurosurgery at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. Also part of the inpatient experience for the resident is an eight-bed Neuro Special Care Unit. In addition, a variable number of beds are used for primary neurological admissions to the pediatric service of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and the nearby Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont. A broad spectrum of neurological disease is seen at these facilities due to their strategic location as a major consultation center for New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and western Massachusetts.
Since DHMC moved to larger headquarters at the Lebanon, NH location in 1991, the increase in patient visits and projected demand has required another major expansion of the medical center. Our newly expanded facility opened in August 2004, and includes more clinical, conference, offices and spaces for Neurology, as well as many other medical specialties. The Norris Cotton Cancer Center also has expanded its adjacent facility and clinical research is being conducted in the new building as well.
