Continuity of Care Clinic
Continuity of care, defined as caring for the same patient from the initial pre-operative evaluation, into surgery and through the post-operative period, is a vital part of residency training. The small size of the residency will routinely allow for this type of experience.
In order to maximize continuity of care, the resident will be assigned, on a rotating basis, a primary subspecialty area of focus. During this time, the resident, with oversight from the program director, will be expected to be in the outpatient clinic or operating room whenever the attending physician(s) responsible for that subspecialty area is in the clinic or operating room.
