Skill, comfort level and technical performance are directly observed by the attending and the resident evaluation reflects the attending’s assessment of resident performance in these areas. Any deficiencies are discussed with the program director. Performance is also discussed during staff meetings. Any plan for skill remediation would be discussed with the resident directly and documented.
A comprehensive summative evaluation is created and is discussed with each resident midway through the academic year, and at the end of the academic year.

- Surgical log review comparison to national means
