Dear Radiology Residency Applicants (future colleagues),
Thank you for visiting the Dartmouth Hitchcock Radiology Residency website!
As the chief residents for the 2020-2021 year, we are ecstatic to have the opportunity to represent our co-residents and would love to tell you about our program.
We believe that our program is one of the strongest in the country. It offers the unique opportunity to train at a large academic center with minimal fellows, allowing our residents to obtain experience that not many other programs can provide, while having a strong sense of community one would find in a rural setting. We are a very tight knit residency and like to consider ourselves friends first and colleagues second.
Our Program Director, Dr. Yen, is a true resident advocate and has not only listened to resident feedback, but worked tirelessly to ensure that our voices are heard. Dr. Yen has been instrumental in many advances over the past academic year including department funding for yearly ABR dues, all travel, hotel, and food covered at our AIRP rotation, as well as a complete revamp of our resident library - including updated educational resources! Dr. Yen was awarded the 2019 DHMC Outstanding Program Director of the Year award! We could not be more proud of Dr. Yen this year!
Our residents have a 100% pass rate on the ABR Core examination, obtain fellowship positions of their choice at top institutions across the county in all specialties, and most importantly, have a great time in the process.
We have developed a Resident-Resident Mentorship Program, which places all incoming first years on an already established team of residents to help promote resident education, professional development, and work-life balance. Our residents enjoy events such as weekly happy hour, group sporting events, barbecues, brewery tours and ski trips coordinated by our elected social chair. We also have quarterly department funded events as part of the new Mentorship Program in support of resident wellness.
We know that for those of you who will be matching in 2021, it probably feels like it’s fast approaching, yet surreal at the same time. We are very excited for all of you during this amazing time in your medical school careers. Thank you for your interest in our program and we look forward to meeting you!
