Other Components of the Basic Science Curriculum
The master's program at The Dartmouth Institute of Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI) provides a significant basic science education in courses such as biostatistics and epidemiology. This program, which involves up to six core courses and three independent study courses, is now required of two of the four residents who enter the program each year.
Moreover, we have added basic science faculty affiliations to the department. For example, neurophysiologist Joyce Deleo, PhD, is interested in the role of cytokines as well as other mediators of inflammation and pain in various musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, and is a resource available to our residents.
