PGY-3

During the PGY-3 year, time will be spent on teams at DHMC and on a pediatric orthopaedic rotation at Children's Hospital Boston (CHB).

CHB is one of the busiest pediatric orthopaedic practices in the country, with more than 50,000 ambulatory visits per year. They are the largest pediatric orthopaedic department in the nation, and include ten specialty clinics.

The CHB experience is an unusual exposure when compared to the overall training program of the residents at DHMC in that a subspecialty of orthopaedics, namely pediatrics, is dealt with in depth without any other orthopaedic clinical responsibilities. The CHB rotation also provides an in-depth clinical lecture series dealing with pediatrics which supplements the formal lecture series done at DHMC. The remaining nine months at DHMC are spent on the Sports/Foot and Ankle, Upper Extremity, and Spine rotations.
