Mission
The Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) Fellowship program provides a deep foundation in image-guided procedural expertise that equips trainees to excel in a broad range of clinical interventional radiology practices.
Program aims
The VIR trainee will develop the ability to perform in- and outpatient consultations, admit and discharge patients and structure appropriate peri-procedural and long-term follow-up. Trainees participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and tumor boards and gain an understanding of disease processes and therapies, and a perspective of the potential role of Interventional Radiology. They master basic and advanced techniques with regard to selective catheterization, vascular and visceral access, vascular embolization and recanalization, and percutaneous ablation. Trainees demonstrate a thorough understanding of diseases of the vascular (neuro and peripheral), hepatobiliary, urinary, and gastrointestinal systems.
