I was really excited at the idea of helping to build a new program, and the enthusiasm shared amongst the staff in welcoming us is so palpable. My husband and I were actually also in Woodstock, Vermont right around the time of interviews and couldn’t believe we could actually have the chance to live in such a beautiful area with so many sports and outdoors activities at our fingertips. So in a word, “vibes”.

I was instantly drawn to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center because of the close connection I felt between residents. The Upper Valley truly draws in attendings and residents who cherish the outdoors and community. People live and teach here because they truly want to be here which certainly shines through. Additionally, the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center catchment area is incredibly wide, which provides for an incredible array of patients and experiences.

The Upper Valley is a wonderful place to raise a family.

There were a lot of things that attracted me to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The first thing that struck me was the collegial environment that percolated throughout the hospital. Residents are treated as junior colleagues and there is a strong focus on a resident education. The graduating residents are confident in their skills and past residents are doing great wherever they ended up. It helps of course, that the hospital gives a very cozy vibe and is nested within the beautiful Upper Valley with all of its lovely seasons. The hospital system provides great care and I’ve had multiple family members get treated here and they have all had great experiences. Looking back, I’m glad and very fortunate to have trained at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
