Our faculty train our fellows to meet the highest standards of patient care, to contribute meaningfully to the medical literature, and to offer mentorship to junior colleagues in a concerted effort to prepare them for a successful career in dermatopathology.
Mentoring graduates of pathology and dermatology residency programs through rigorous training that exposes them to a broad array of dermatopathology specimens and collaborative research, so that upon graduation our fellows have become our junior colleagues, prepared and confident to begin their careers as dermatopathologists in academic and community practice settings.
All fellows spend the final four months of their fellowship as junior attendings, devoted exclusively to fine tuning their diagnostic abilities and written reports. During the first eight months, fellows split their time between dermatopathology and either clinical dermatology or anatomic pathology services, depending on their training background.
All fellows participate in a collaborative research project with contributions from our dermatopathology faculty. Prior fellows have received high accolades for their research platforms at national and international society meetings, and have had their work published in leading pathology and dermatology journals. Protected time and mentorship are carefully allotted to each fellow to ensure that they complete their projects in a timely fashion.
