Why I enjoy the pathology program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center
Our pathology program has a trusting and collaborative environment. Residents can rely on each other and on the attendings and support staff. We have a well-balanced AP and CP program that provides ample opportunities to find your area of interest.
About me
I am originally from Mauritania in West Africa and have lived in the United States since 2010. After graduating from medical school in Aleppo, Syria, I spent nearly a decade building a strong foundation in biomedical engineering and clinical research—earning a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Florida State University and contributing to several multidisciplinary projects across academia and federal institutions.
My journey eventually led me to Dartmouth Health, where I’m currently a pathology resident. Our residency program is truly a place where you can thrive—whether by building on your strengths, filling in gaps, or growing into the diagnostician you aspire to be. It’s a well-balanced AP/CP program with exceptional leadership and faculty who are deeply committed to education. The residents’ room here is more than a workspace—it’s a supportive and collegial home base where you always feel encouraged and backed by your peers.
I’ve been fortunate to integrate my engineering background into pathology through research, quality improvement, and teaching initiatives. I’ll be pursuing a GU pathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins in 2027–2028, but I know the foundation built here at Dartmouth will remain a guiding force. Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife, daughter, and our dog, Mauri—whether it’s taking walks, exploring new foods, or cheering on the Florida State Seminoles.
