Gastroenterology Interview Day

Interview Day overview

Candidates should arrive between 7:30 and 7:50 a.m. on the day of their interview.

Interview Day will end at approximately 3:00 p.m. Please see the sample candidate schedule (PDF) for details.

Directions and parking

From Route 120, take Lahaye Drive to Hitchcock Loop Road. Please park on the top level of the parking garage and take the stairs or the elevator down to level 4 where you will enter the medical center via the Faulkner Building and follow the directions to the Plastic Surgery Administrative Offices linked below with the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center 4th floor map.

Location and contact information

The Plastic Surgery Administrative Offices are located on the 4th floor, approximately halfway between the Information Desk and Same Day Surgery. Upon arrival to the offices, you will be escorted to the Reuckert Library where you will have breakfast and learn about the program with Dr. Gary Freed, Program Director.

If you have any trouble on interview day, please contact Chris Trottier, Residency Coordinator as follows:

  • From outside the medical center, call 603-650-5000 and ask to page 4470
  • From inside the medical center on any of the tan phones (there is a phone at each of the info desks) dial 35 and follow the prompts to page 4470.

You may also call Chris' direct line at 603-650-4521 and leave a message, but paging will ensure a timely response.

Policies and agreement

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requires that each applicant to an accredited residency program be provided with the institutional policies regarding eligibility requirements and selection process along with a sample copy of the current resident/fellow agreement of appointment in force during interview season. Additionally, it is a requirement of the Plastic Surgery Residency Review Committee of the ACGME that programs notify applicants in writing of the pre-requisite training requirements as outlined by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the Plastic Surgery RRC.

Please familiarize yourself with each of the documents linked below. At the end of interview day, you will be asked to sign off indicating you received a copy of these policies and documents. We will have additional copies on hand during interview day, as your signature is a requirement to be eligible for ranking.

Dinner with the residents

The evening before your interview, the residents host an informal reception and dinner at Murphy's on the Green on Main Street in downtown Hanover. This is a fun opportunity for you to get to know the residents and fellows in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. I will contact you closer to your scheduled date to request an RSVP.

Travel and lodging

If flying will be part of your travel plans, we suggest you use the Manchester, N.H. (approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes) airport due to its proximity to Lebanon. Burlington, VT. is also an option and may have competitive fares (1 hour 20 minutes).

A list of hotels up to 10 miles away from the hospital, as well as links to regional airports, hotels and ground transportation can be found within the travel information document (PDF).
