Michael W. Winter, MD

Dr. Winter studied at Middlebury College (BS) and then at Tufts University School of Medicine (MD). He completed post-graduate training in a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center and in gastroenterology and hepatology at Tufts Medical Center. Following an advanced inflammatory bowel disease fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Dr. Winter joined faculty and has worked as a staff gastroenterologist since 2020. His practice and academic interests include inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal ultrasound.
Dr. Winter enjoys teaching at all levels. After serving as Associate Program Director, Dr. Winter became Program Director for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship in 2024. He lives in Hanover, New Hampshire with his wife and 2 children.
Mary Drinane, MD
Associate Program Director, Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship

Dr. Mary Drinane is a board-certified gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where she has been a member of the medical staff since 2017 with a focus in hepatology. A native of Norwich, Vermont, Dr. Drinane earned her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland before completing her internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She continued her advanced training at the Mayo Clinic, completing both her gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships.
At Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Dr. Drinane joined the fellowship leadership in 2025 as an Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship. In addition to her clinical and academic roles, she is deeply committed to community outreach and provides care at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, New Hampshire, helping to expand access to specialty care in rural areas.
David Klibansky, MD

Dr. Klibansky attended College of the Holy Cross for undergraduate education (BA) and obtained his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical School. He completed IM residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center followed by GI Fellowship training at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and a 1 year interventional endoscopy fellowship. Dr. Klibansky has been on faculty since 2022 and currently serves as Chief of Gastroenterology at WRJ VA Medical Center. His clinical practice and academic interests are broad, with focus on pancreaticobiliary disorders. Dr. Klibansky is significantly involved in medical education throughout the Geisel/Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center medical community.
Timothy Gardner, MD

Dr. Timothy Gardner graduated from Dartmouth College and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine, chief medical residency and gastroenterology fellowship training at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and a subspecialty fellowship in clinical pancreatology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He has a Masters in Clinical Research from the Dartmouth Institute. He is Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He is currently the Director of Pancreatic Disorders, co-director of the Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy fellowship and medical director of the Dartmouth islet cell transplant program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He was the general gastroenterology fellowship program director for 8 years. He has published widely in the areas of medical pancreatology and therapeutic endoscopy and has received numerous grants from the NIH, National Pancreas Foundation and the American College of Gastroenterology to develop treatments for patients with pancreatic disease. He also serves at the Brigade Surgeon for the 197th FAB in the New Hampshire Army National Guard. He lives in Hanover, New Hampshire with his wife and 3 children.
