Dartmouth's unique Psychiatry residency curriculum prepares trainees for the challenges of contemporary psychiatric medicine. We teach a wide variety of clinical evaluation methods and interventions. To prepare the next generation of psychiatrists for excellence in clinical practice, scholarship and leadership, recognizing the evolving nature of neuroscience and psychiatric research.
- Educate residents to be excellent practitioners in psychiatry in regards to diagnostic assessments, pharmacology management and various psychotherapy interventions.
- Expose residents to various systems of care (tertiary medical center, VAMC, state hospital, nursing home, jail, etc),how psychiatric treatment is delivered in those settings, and the role of the psychiatrist.
- Prepare residents for leadership roles in the field of psychiatry.
