The Department of Diagnostic Radiology currently occupies 80,000 square feet within Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Most of our imaging facilities are located in the northwest quadrant of the medical center's third floor.
Additional systems are found in the Doctor's Office Building (DXA, mammography screening and tomosynthesis) and in the Emergency Department. Research facilities are found at the medical school and in various locations in the medical center.
In 2013, the Advanced Surgery Center (ASC) for Translational Research opened on the second (ground) floor. The ASC is a collaborative effort by Geisel School of Medicine and Thayer School of Engineering. The only research-dedicated facility of its kind in the country, the center allows both intra-operative MR and CT imaging to be performed without moving the patient. The bulk of the funding for the Advanced Surgery Center was provided through an ARRA/NIH grant obtained by Thomas Colacchio MD, former president of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Emeritus Professor of Surgery and Keith Paulsen PhD, Director of the Advanced Imaging Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Professor of Radiology & Surgery, and the Robert A. Pritzker Professor of Biomedical Engineering.
