Welcome to the General Surgery Residency Program at Dartmouth Health!
We are so pleased that you are interested in our program and all that it has to offer.
I for one am excited to join the Dartmouth family as the new Chair of Surgery and am incredibly proud of our faculty and trainees for their unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research and for their service to the largely rural community of patients here in the Upper Valley.
Our training program is unique – on the one hand offering broad-based general surgical training in a rural setting while on the other offering advanced surgical training in complex GI, oncologic, thoracic, pediatric, trauma, and cardiovascular surgery at the only tertiary care academic medical center in the state of New Hampshire. Moreover, our trainees have easy access to robust research collaborations throughout the Dartmouth community, in particular The Dartmouth Institute and the Thayer School of Engineering. Thus, we prepare our residents equally well for careers as rural general surgeons as we do highly specialized academic surgeon-scientists and potential future leaders in American surgery. What’s more, all of this is accomplished in the unspoiled beauty of the upper Connecticut River Valley, which offers an unparalleled quality of life and a wonderful community in which to raise a family!
We look forward to reading your application and to meeting you, and we wish you the best of luck in your search for the ideal residency program!
Best wishes,
