All fellows complete a scholarly project during the 2-year program. These projects may be done independently or as part of an ongoing faculty research project.
In the first year, each fellow is assigned a mentor who helps guide their choice of project and its implementation. By the end of year 2, the project is to be presented to an audience of the mentor and fellow's choice. Projects vary widely and are intended to deepen the fellow's knowledge in a specific area of their choosing or lead to publication or dissemination of new information. As examples, end products may include case reports, poster presentations, abstracts, published articles or book chapters, lectures or workshops, printed curricula.
