Interview day overview

Though interviews have gone virtual this year, we are making every effort to maximize our time together (and simultaneously cut down on screen fatigue). On your interview day, you will have a chance to interact with residents, faculty and program leadership to get a sense of what makes Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center a great place to learn and what life in the Upper Valley is like! The Emergency Medicine Residency program interviews 12 candidates per day. Each interview day is divided into 2 sessions; we will interview 6 candidates per session. Session 1 begins at 7:30 a.m., ending at 10:45 Session 2 begins at 12:15, ending at 3:30 p.m. We will e-mail your interview schedule approximately 1 week before your interview.

To minimize screen time on Interview Day and focus our time on meeting you, we have recorded our Program Overview and ask you to review it prior to interview day. It is an in-depth presentation of the entire program. There will be specific time on interview day allotted to answering any programmatic questions raised by this talk.

We will utilize WebEx for the virtual interview day and we will provide you an opportunity to test the platform before your interview. Included with your interview day schedule, you will receive a link with available times to “test” the platform.

If for any reason you need to reach us on your interview day, please contact our Program Coordinator, Judy Collins. Call or text 603-568-2046. Keep this number handy.

Happy hour with the Residents

The Dartmouth Emergency Medicine residents will host a Virtual Happy Hour WebEx at 7pm following the completion of the afternoon interview session. This is intended for applicants interviewing both in the morning AND the afternoon. You will receive a WebEx invitation a week prior to your interview. Casual dress! Grab some food and drink and come hang out with the residents. Be sure to ask them the hardest questions. They really are the greatest asset of this program!

Policies and agreement

The ACGME requires that each applicant to an accredited residency program be provided with the institutional policies regarding eligibility requirements and selection process along with a sample copy of the current residents and fellows agreement of appointment in place during interview season.

Please familiarize yourself with each of the documents linked below. At the beginning of your interview day, you will be asked to sign off indicating you received a copy of these policies and documents. We will have additional copies on hand during interview day, as your signature is a requirement to be eligible for ranking.
