The curriculum is designed to create a balanced inpatient and outpatient experience in obstetrics and gynecology and critical care settings with gradually increasing autonomy over 4 years.
PGY-1
- 3 months Obstetrics (Labor and Delivery, OB Ultrasound)
- 3 months Gynecology (OR, Urogyn clinic, Colposcopy clinic)
- 1 month Family Planning (Planned Parenthood, Adolescent Clinic, Prenatal Diagnosis)
- 3 months Night Float
- 1 month Gynecologic Oncology
- 1 month Surgical Intensive Care
PGY-2
The second year experience is spent primarily in Manchester, New Hampshire, as well as at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Catholic Medical Center (CMC) campuses.
- 9 months Catholic Medical Center rotation (CMC)
- 2 months Gynecologic Oncology (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center)
- 1 month Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (Boston IVF in Bedford, New Hampshire)
The goals of the Catholic Medical Center experience are:
- To increase knowledge and skills in normal and high risk obstetrics in the outpatient and inpatient setting in a busy urban practice
- To gain exposure to the challenges and unique health risks of an urban population
- To increase knowledge and skills in ambulatory and inpatient gynecology
- To observe the delivery of obstetrics and gynecologic care in a community-based setting
PGY-3
The third year is designed to foster transition from junior to senior resident.
- 2 months Night Float
- 3 months Maternal Fetal Medicine
- 3 months Gynecologic Oncology
- 1 month Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
- 1 month Urogynecology
- 1 month Elective time
- 1 month Outpatient
PGY-4
The fourth year residents go back to the basics:
- 3 months Obstetrics
- 3 months Gynecologic Oncology
- 3 months Benign Gynecology (Urogynecology, Gyn ultrasound)
- 2 months Outpatient (Early Pregnancy Failure, Second trimester abortion, Vulvar disease)
- 1 month Night Float
