Our mission is to educate and train residents to become skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional otolaryngology-head and neck surgeons who provide high-value care for all patients and families in a diverse, inclusive, emotionally safe environment.
We empower resident physicians to address healthcare disparities and to continuously improve their education, practice, and the community health care system as a whole. We advance health through research, education, clinical practice, and community partnerships, providing each person the best care, in the right place, at the right time, every time.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center's otolaryngology residency program provides residents with comprehensive training and education in the medical and surgical care of patients with diseases and disorders that affect the head and neck.
We recognize that it is difficult for a resident entering a training program to commit to any given career path in otolaryngology. We have therefore structured this residency in such a way as to expose each resident to every aspect of otolaryngology and prepare him/her for a subspecialty fellowship or a comprehensive otolaryngology practice.
Every level of complexity, age group, and subspecialty practice is abundantly available. Our research opportunities are diverse and the research experience is well structured. You will leave this residency equipped to practice all aspects of general otolaryngology. In addition, you will have sufficient exposure to the more highly specialized aspects of our specialty to be able to make an informed decision regarding possible fellowship training or a career in basic science or outcomes research.
