We are a 3-year residency, nestled in the gorgeous New Hampshire mountains with some of the highest acuity in the country. As a level 1 trauma center and a tertiary referral center we have renowned faculty who are dedicated and gifted teachers, but also caring people who will help guide you as you grow as a physician and a person in residency. At Dartmouth you will find fantastic mentors who are leaders in critical care, ultrasound, wilderness medicine and more. We are proud to learn from so many outstanding attendings.
We have all 4 amazing seasons with pristine hiking, swimming, climbing, skiing– pretty much anything outdoors! We also have tons of cultural activities (just one of the benefits of being at an Ivy League institution), incredible scenery, safe and beautiful neighborhoods, and no traffic (seriously, no traffic.)
There is a unique sense of teamwork and collegiality here that can be harder to find at larger institutions where you might not get the chance to know your co-residents and consultants as well. When you come here you will be integrated into a family of residents who will become some of your best friends throughout the rest of your career. There are a lot of places you could go to train in Emergency Medicine, but if you are looking for a close-knit group of residents, where you will be supported and pushed to the edge of your comfort zone to become the best Emergency Medicine physician you can be….
