Adam Kaftan, MD
Emergency Medicine Chief Resident
Welcome to Dartmouth’s Emergency Medicine Residency! We are thrilled to tell you about our awesome program.
Like the rest of you, I was drawn to Emergency Medicine for the opportunity to help anyone who walks through the door. From simple fishhook removals to aggressive resuscitations for the critically ill, we get to impact so many people for the better.
Many things make Dartmouth special, but my favorite aspect of our program is how caring and hardworking we all are to better serve our community. There is a unique sense of teamwork and collegiality here that can be harder to find at larger institutions where you might not get the chance to know your co-residents and consultants as well. This place is also a true center of excellence, with fantastic mentors who are leaders in critical care, ultrasound, wilderness medicine and more. We are proud to learn from so many outstanding attendings.
Plus, we live in the pristine Upper Valley where natural beauty and a vibrant college town community make for a wonderful place to enjoy life outside of work. Our summers are full of lake days, swimming, farmers’ markets, incredible hiking, mountain biking, and cookouts. In the wintertime, we have bonfires, go skiing, skating—even sleigh riding!
If you are looking for a tight-knit residency where you can get excellent training while living in a positively beautiful location, look no further than Dartmouth!
